Healing Sounds
Healing Sounds
Harnessing Healing Sounds for Wellness at MYZ Martial Arts Center
Introduction to Healing Sounds
At MYZ Martial Arts Center, we believe in the power of health healing sounds to facilitate a unique form of energetic meditation. By integrating sound therapy into our chi kung and quigong practices, we aim to enhance the overall healing experience for our students.
The Role of Energetic Points
Our training modules delve deep into the microcosmic orbit, focusing on energizing core energetic points. This practice encourages the flow of chi, fostering balance and tranquility through intentional breathing. As students engage with the yin and yang movements, they connect with their inner energies and cultivate a deeper awareness of their bodies, promoting overall well-being.
Martial Arts Applications
Incorporating healing sounds into martial arts applications elevates not only physical practice but also mental clarity and focus. Tai chi, known for its fluid movements, can be complemented by healing sounds to enhance the practitioner’s experience. As one learns to harmonize their skin and bone respiration with sound, they unlock new dimensions of martial artistry.

Debbie Zapata: A Trailblazer in the 2011 Ultra Marathon
The Pioneering Ultra Marathon
On October 25, 2011, Debbie Zapata undertook an incredible challenge by participating in a never-before-held ultra marathon in Tlaxcala, Mexico. Over the course of six days and one hour, Debbie managed to complete a staggering 154.44 miles, showcasing her endurance, passion, and determination. This historic event not only tested her physical limits but also introduced the beauty of the surrounding landscapes, including the majestic 'La Mujer Dormida' and 'Popo' volcanoes.
Debbie's Unique Approach
What set Debbie apart from the rest was her simplicity. Dressed casually with a scarf, hat, gloves, and comfortable shoes, she embodied a unique spirit of perseverance. Accompanied by a wooden stick for stability and a thermos of water, she documented her journey with a small bag containing her camera and race record. Her steady pace, aptly termed 'derechita,' earned her the respect of fellow runners as she became the only woman to complete the entire event.
A Memorable Contribution
In addition to racing, Debbie had a creative vision for the ultra marathons organized by 'A Green Project.' She conceptualized a mascot named 'Fidel,' crafted from recycled materials and a fruit basket, serving as a directional guide along the course. Debbie's passion extended beyond running; she captured iconic moments of the event, which were featured in Ultramarathon Magazine. Her efforts also attracted local media attention, making her a well-known figure in the community. Supported by her partner, 'Zapata Ironman,' Debbie led the way not just to her personal victory, but also to a landmark event in the world of ultra running.

Rescuing Manantiales Forest: A Call to Action
Introduction to Manantiales Forest
Once upon a time in Nativitas, Xochimilco, there existed a lush, green, and majestic expanse known as Manantiales Forest. It was a place of incredible beauty, filled with native trees, medicinal herbs, and vibrant aquatic life, including fish and axolotls. This enchanting environment was home to a diverse array of wildlife, from birds and dragonflies to crickets, all coexisting harmoniously within its magical paths and trails.
The Decline of a Natural Paradise
Unfortunately, the tranquility of Manantiales Forest has been deeply threatened. Urban encroachment has transformed the forest, with horses, motorcycles, and various motor vehicles claiming ground. This progression is accompanied by unregulated trade and a pervasive lack of ecological awareness, leading to litter and graffiti, while the majestic trees face relentless felling. Sadly, reforestation efforts remain nonexistent, leaving the forest in a vulnerable state.
A Vision for Restoration
In 2009, I submitted a proposal to the Green Project Organization aimed at revitalizing Manantiales Forest. The proposal advocated for educational programs, the nurturing of saplings into trees, and the reclamation of pathways for pedestrians and cyclists. It emphasized community engagement and responsible waste management. It is vital to remember that maintaining this forest isn't just about preserving nature; it's about preserving a legacy for future generations. As stewards of this natural heritage, we must act now to protect and restore Manantiales Forest, ensuring it continues to thrive for years to come.

Exploring the Tarahumara Culture: A Journey Through Copper Canyon
Introduction to the Tarahumara Culture Module
Welcome to the fascinating culture module, where we delve into the vibrant traditions of the Tarahumara people. This rich cultural heritage is most prominently showcased during the ecotourism expedition in the breathtaking Copper Canyon. In 2007-11-02, we embarked on a journey to discover their unique customs, dances, clothes, and culinary delights.
The Great Adventure Awaits
The journey to Copper Canyon begins on the famous Chepe train, which takes travelers to Creel, a charming town nestled among pine forests. From there, we set out on a walking tour to stunning destinations, like Lake Arareco and Basaseachic Falls. Each location offers a glimpse into the marvelous landscapes that form the backdrop to the Tarahumara way of life.
Experiencing Life in the Mountains
During the ecotourism expedition, participants will witness the school in the mountains, where children learn in makeshift huts with stone desks. Many travel hours from their communities to access education, demonstrating their determination. The expedition whisks you through the seasons in the canyon, showcasing the beauty that accompanies winter, fall, summer, and spring.
As you immerse yourself in their lifestyle, don’t miss the chance to participate in the 8-hour marathon with the rarámuris, a competitive spirit that embodies the resilience of the Tarahumara community. Thank you very much, or wa'lú chehelieraba, for joining in this unique journey into the heart of the Tarahumara culture.

Let Our Kids Be Kids: The Importance of Play in Education Module
The Role of Play in Childhood
In the journey of educational development, play stands as a crucial component. It is through play that children explore, learn, and enhance their creativity and social skills. An education module that incorporates play not only enriches the learning experience but also aligns with the necessity of letting our kids be kids. This philosophy embraces the idea that childhood is a time for imagination, exploration, and joy.
Transforming Playgrounds into Learning Spaces
Unfortunately, modern playgrounds often resemble assembly lines of plastic structures engineered for safety rather than excitement. The shift towards overly supervised play areas has limited the adventurous spirit that kids naturally possess. By reintroducing “risky” playgrounds, where children can engage in exploration and challenge themselves, we pave the way for experiential learning. Have we lost sight of the true essence of childhood? It’s time to revolutionize our education modules by creating spaces that allow for genuine play.
Fostering Lifelong Learning Through Play
Lifelong learning is a cornerstone of personal development, and it begins with the interactions children have while playing. By fostering environments where children can play freely, we encourage a mindset that values learning as an enjoyable and integral part of life. Let our kids be kids, not just students preparing for exams with predefined answers. Educational success should encompass the ability to think critically, solve problems, and embrace creativity—skills that are nurtured through playful exploration.
