As a child, I was nicknamed "Astroboy" because I would fly from rooftop to floor on a pile of dirt. Also, because I used to defend little kids from bullies. I was "CHIQUITO" but "PICOSO." There was also a “MANO DURA” for minor offenders, and there was a way to “ENDEREZARLOS.” These are some memories of my town, Xochimilco, and its surroundings. I grew up in a very poor neighborhood, where SHARING, Playing with Children regardless of their Social Status, and Living as a FAMILY existed. There were also CRYSTAL-CLEAR SPRINGS, which the government took away from us in the name of "Modernity," Nowadays, we have to "IMPORT" water. People worked in the "CHINAMPAS" fields. Basic services were being established: agua potable, drainage, electricity, and paving. The “TRANVIA ELECTRICO” was a NON-POLLUTING and CHEAP transportation, accessible to the entire population at 35 cents.
